Ten tourists missing after a boat carrying them from Lombok to Komodo Island foundered due to hit a reef on Saturday (16/08/2014). Five Indonesian citizens, which consists of the crew and a tour guide, is also missing.
Total 25 victims, 15 are still missing and 10 other passengers could be saved. Local rescue workers, Budiawan, said foreign WN survivors came from New Zealand, the UK, Spain, Netherlands, Germany and France.
“A tourist boat carrying 25 people sank while sailing from the island of Lombok to Komodo Island,” said Budiawan.
“We save 10 foreigners while 10 other foreign nationals as well as 5 citizens are still missing. We immediately held a search operation after getting the news this morning,” said Budiawan on Sunday afternoon.
The ship sank not far from the Bima. According to rescue workers in Bima, Suryawan, the boat sank on Saturday morning, but a few new passengers could be rescued on Saturday night.
“The accident happened when the ship hit a reef and sank. Several fishermen managed to rescue five people on Saturday night, and five other foreigners rescued by a sailing ship,” said Suryawan.
